As part of our mission to enhance the lives of older adults, Transforming Age is implementing five key initiatives to create a better world for everyone as they age.
Environmental Sustainability.
How can we balance our increasing longevity without overburdening our planet? On behalf of the customers, team members, and communities we serve, Transforming Age is committed to proactive stewardship of our planet and its resources. As such, we have pledged to achieve net zero carbon emissions across all our operations within the next twenty-five years. As we retrofit and redevelop existing campuses and build new, we prioritize environmentally responsible practices. For example, Parkshore Juanita Bay in the Pacific Northwest will be the first senior living community with a LEED Platinum certification. Designed from the outset to embrace high-efficiency systems – including HVAC, plumbing, and air filtration – Parkshore Juanita Bay even features its own power generation courtesy of a rooftop solar array. Beyond simply maintaining our residents’ high quality of life, these efforts enhance it.
Affordable Housing.
We believe every person deserves a home, a place to put down roots and build a sense of belonging. Through SHAG and our CIRC affiliates, Transforming Age provides affordable housing and associated services to help financially constrained older adults live as well as they deserve. CIRC partners with donors, state and local agencies, public funders, and lenders to accomplish this mission. Furthering our commitment to addressing the housing crisis, CIRC is in the process of building over 1,500 affordable housing units-all in prime urban areas with access to public transportation and featuring life-enhancing amenities.
TA Cares Fund.
The TA Cares Fund provides financial assistance to Transforming Age team members facing unexpected hardship or crisis through no fault of their own. From medical emergencies to housing needs after domestic violence incidents, eviction proceedings, or other emergencies, the fund offers financial support to help employees and their families during difficult situations-situations that may otherwise have prevented them from working and earning an income. All assistance is strictly confidential to protect the privacy and safety of our team members.
Education Fund.
With 1 out of every 5 Americans over the age of 65, quickly outpacing the younger workforce, it has never been more important to invest in the workforce that serves them. But serving older adults requires a dedicated workforce with the passion, training, skills, and experience to make a difference. The Transforming Age Education Fund was established to empower our team members to advance within senior-focused industries. This fund covers essential educational costs, including tuition, books, and fees. With its support, team members have transformed their careers, progressing from dining room servers to registered nurses and even executive directors and administrators. In an industry where certifications and degrees are often necessary but financially out of reach, this fund is committed to breaking down barriers and enabling our team members to unlock their full potential and pursue their true callings.
Charitable Care.
We believe in putting our resources where our rhetoric is. Specifically, as of this writing, Transforming Age has provided over $10 million in unreimbursed care to residents. Additionally, our Full Life Care affiliate has saved taxpayers over $50 million dollars by providing services that would otherwise fall to local and state governments to support.
